Sloe
Gin Truffles
We came
upon Sloe Gin truffles during our hunt for new and original items to feature
in our 2006 Christmas Hamper Collection. These truffles are not only unique,
but received our highest marks for taste - they are absolutely heavenly!
In
these wonderful truffles, hand-picked wild sloe berries have been steeped
in gin and blended as a truffle with rich dark Belgian chocolate (minimum
56% cocoa solids). Each truffle contains at least 35% fruit, allowing
you to enjoy the aromatic flavour of the gin-steeped sloes to the fullest.
For those
of you not familiar with sloes (and we weren't!), they are the fruit of
the blackthorn (Prunus spinosa),one of the shrubs that make up Britain's
many ancient hedgerows and thickets. The blackthorn is the last shrub
to bear its fruit each year and, after tasting these truffles, we believe
that nature has simply saved the best till last.
Sloe Gin
truffles feature in two of our luxury Christmas hampers: The Christmas Cornucopia
and our spectacular Christmas Glory Hamper.
